Behind the scenes

I always feel a particular emotion when I encounter, far from their original landscapes, the paintings of Van Gogh – especially those inspired by Provence, a region I deeply love.

That day, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, it was his cypresses that suddenly moved me. As I looked at them, I began to feel far more than just an image: the warmth of the sun, the breath of the mistral, the scent of herbs, and the song of cicadas.

Little by little, this vision blended with my real surroundings. Imagination and reality became intertwined, as if the landscapes of Provence had crossed the ocean to take over Manhattan.

Perhaps this is the power of art: a door we only need to slightly open to be transported, to see the world differently, and to marvel at it endlessly.

Echoes of the world

New York is often described as a vast melting pot, where cultures and imaginations from all over the world meet.

In this text, that blending takes on an unexpected form: the cypresses of Provence, the mistral, and the cicadas seem to appear and dance between the Empire State Building and the Brooklyn Bridge.

And you, do you ever find yourself creating something unexpected by blending two different worlds?
